Creamy Sausage Stuffed Won Tons
Also known to some as Sausage Stars. That name doesn't give enough information for me.
They're creamy, savory, cheesy, they have a little kick, and they're just stuffed into this wonton and baked until gooey perfection.
I had a rendition of these once at a party, Matt and I just stared at each other and knew that we needed to make it for ourselves. I didn't get the recipe but I ate enough to get the basic concept and then I just kept making them (twist my arm) until I got a recipe that felt perfect.
It's so simple.
Ground sausage, not Italian or spicy or anything just plain ground sausage. Softened cream cheese. Shredded mild cheddar, I know this is weird but it has to be mild otherwise it melts differently. Crushed red pepper. Garlic powder, salt + pepper, a sprinkle of nutmeg and equal sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Mix it up, stuff it into a won ton, inside a cupcake sheet, bake it at 350 degrees and it. is. magical.
The flavors are complimented so well with the cream cheese and the simplicity of the wonton wrap, I absolutely love these. And, your guests if you make these will love them too. We made these for a Christmas party and Matt had to run to the store to get more ground sausage so I could make more because people loved them so much.
Enjoy these ASAP.
