The Halloween Cosmo
Updated: Nov 5, 2019
This is a simple as the title. A favorite martini, with a Halloween Twist for the holiday spirit.
This would've also been useful for my daughter's Vampirina Fantastic 4th Birthday, or any spooky themed party, but also for Halloween in the Berkshires this year. We got canceled.
That is correct, October 31st was a Thursday, and it got postponed until the following Saturday (the 2nd of November) due to weather. I felt like it was very common Berkshires weather for the month of October, but the weather channel issued a severe wind alert and I guess I can't complain about a Trick-or-Treat on the weekend.
No arguing about bedtime, no limiting the candy to one or two pieces because there is school tomorrow, and MOMMA IS HAVING A DRINK, because it's the freakin' weekend baby.
Comsos are me and my sister-in-laws go to for restaurants, banquets, Saturday evening drinks. Vodka, TripleSec, citrus juice and some cranberry juice. Who doesn't love a good Cosmo? Probably some who got a bad one once, give them another try. I've been there too, girl. (or boy, no judgement here) This is still your simple Cosmopolitan that you saw on Sex & the City, but with a creepy twist.
I use Tito's vodka, because it says Vodka for dog people. It's gluten free, which means that my buds with Celiac and gluten intolerances can join. And, a good friend of mine told me there isn't as much of a chance as a hangover? I believe them. Yay! Triplesec, or Grand Mariner is key so a Cosmo BUT! Did you know, Triplesec and Grand Mariner is Orange flavoring and SO IS Blue Curacao. Yup, that blue stuff in Margaritas. So I got to thinking...
If Blue Curacao is good in margs, and that is a citrus based drink paired with a white liquor, why not add it to a cosmo? I have no reason, thats why! Here we go.
So, to start get the vodka in the shaker measuring cup, and pour it in. Next is the cranberry juice, (use diet for lower carb), replace the Triplesec with Blue Curacao and squeeze some lime juice in that b! Toss in some ice cubes and shake the crap out of it. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with lime or orange circle. Cheers, witches!
Don't spill any in the trick-or-treat bucket. It's not time for booze for the kids.
3 oz Tito’s Vodka
1 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
2 oz of Cranberry juice, diet works great too, also Raspberry flavored
1 oz lime juice, fresh squeezed or bottled
1. In a drink shaker measure out the 4 ingredient, pour them in, add a few cubes of ice
2. Shake, shake, shake
3. Serve in a chilled martini glass, garnish with a lime wedge, enjoy xoxo
